I don't have a studio strictly speaking, my creative space is in one of the corner of the living room, or rather, let's say it takes a good third of the living room ! I wish I had a room of my own, but I tend to think that I'd hate to be remote. Our apartment is almost like one big open space, so the kitchen, living room, studio, everything gets mixed up, the limits are blurry. Which is not a bad thing I suppose. This is how it is.
And it is rather messy in my "studio" right now. Piles here & piles there, unfinished projects here, raw materials for others there ... you get the idea.
On top : what will be a small zipped pouch (naturally dyed with wild carrot & then dip-dyed in iron), and some of the lastest dyeings with avocado & sage.
Cotton fat quarters, unmordanted, cut & ready to dye with the next dyeing material that won't require any mordant (Sicilian sumac, or Turpentine tree, or Strawberry tree ...) On top, a Magnolia leaf (which I just discovered was named, by Carl von Linné, after Pierre Magnol, a botanist born + dead in ... Montpellier !). And on top of the leaf, onion skins dyed wool yarn. I don't remember what this bit of wool is doing in there, though ...
A piece of Laurestine (Viburnum tinus) that I picked at my inlaws' yesterday while we were there. Its shiny dark blue, drop shaped (not edible) berries are just the right thing to add a little beauty to my studio. These berries had inspired me to draw Cozy Memories' logo, back in May 2011.
I hope that of this mess, will come out soon lovely new things, other than tha naturally dyed & tie-dyed scarves recently added to the shop. (see previous post if you missed it)
In the meantime, let me wish you a beautiful second half of the week ! Thanks for stopping by !
