Sorry for interrupting the series of posts about our trip to Aveyron, but I had to share something. It's been such a while since I last showed you something (that I made that was) really new, I had to stop myself in my own tracks !
I've started embroidering a piece when we were in Aveyron, and this morning I managed to finish the piece (that turned out to be a pouch). I even managed to take photos & list it to the shop. In addition to all the things I've done today, it made for a remarkably productive day, which had not happened in AGES. Let me present this pouch now.
It made of 100% wool fabric {made in France}, and lined with organic cotton twill. It was free hand embroidered with silk threads naturally dyed (by me) with immortelle flowers (yellow) & Italian buckthorn. (green) It represents Acacia dealbata, also known as "silver wattle" in English, and as "mimosa" en Français. I love botany, but I guess you knew that by now !
I loved embroidering this piece. I had forgotten how much I love to (free hand) embroider ! It' such a meditative act. In this case, I let the naturally dyed silk threads inspire me.
You can see more photos of the pouch, as well as more details, in the shop.
Thank you for reading & for stopping by today !

PS : believe me or not, today the temperature went up to 29°C/84°F which is really nut. Summer temps in March is NOT right. Nothing much we can do about it, but people really were thinking over here that summer had arrived. Tank tops, short dresses, sandals ... Crazy.
